An RTO (Recovery Time Objective) is a key metric used in disaster recovery planning to measure how quickly a company needs to recover its critical IT infrastructure components after a disruptive event occurs. Specifically, the RTO defines the maximum acceptable length of time that a company’s critical IT systems and applications can be down without causing significant harm to the business.
